H.E Rishi Ram Ghimire, Ambassador of Nepal to the Russian Federation and non-resident Ambassador of Nepal to Belarus presented his Letter of Credentials to H.E.           Mr. Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus on June 26, 2018 amidst a special ceremony organized at the Presidential Palace in Minsk, Belarus. He also presented the Letters of recall of his predecessor.

Following the presentation of the Credentials, Ambassador were received in audience. On this occasion, Ambassador Ghimire conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes from The Right Honorable President Mrs. Bidhya Devi Bhandari and the people of Nepal to H.E. Mr. Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus for his personal health and happiness and for the continued progress and prosperity of the people and the Government of the Belarus.

Earlier in the Ceremony, in an official speech, the President welcomed the Ambassadors of Eleven countries and said that peacefulness is at the core of the foreign policy of Belarus. Also making special remarks about each country, the president stated about Nepal as- “Belarus is open to large-scale cooperation with Nepal. Having a significant industrial and educational potential, we can provide assistance in the development of your state”.

Earlier, on June 22 Ambassador Ghimire presented the copy of the Letter of Credential to H.E. Mr. Oleg Kravchenko, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs at his office. While welcoming to Ambassador Ghimire as the non-residential Ambassador of Nepal to Belarus, H.E Mr. Kravchenko wished him a successful tenure and assured full support of his Government in the discharge of his duty. On the occasion, the Deputy Foreign Minister also spoke of the extant cordial, friendly and cooperative state of ties between Nepal and Belarus. The Deputy Minister stated that Nepal and Belarus have been working in tandem in the international meetings and supporting each other’s position on the important transnational issues of mutual concern. He informed that the Parliament of Belarus has set up a Working Group of Parliamentarians to cooperate with the Parliamentarians of Nepal. He suggested that in order to further strengthen our relations, a Bilateral Consultative Mechanism at the level of Deputy Foreign Minister should be set up and the Foreign Ministry would be pleased to host its first meeting in Belarus. H.E Mr. Kravchenko mentioned that the Foreign Ministry of Belarus will be happy to help and facilitate, should an event between the Chambers of Commerce of both countries is organized in Minsk so as to boost trade and investment between both countries.

Ambassador Ghimire welcomed the offer of help and proposal to establish a bilateral mechanism and thanked the Deputy Minister for it. He touched on the current state of the bilateral relations between two countries and mentioned that there is an imperative need to focus our collaborative endeavors on the economic cooperation, especially in the fields of trade, investment and tourism. Ambassador Ghimire informed that Government of Nepal has enacted investment friendly laws with a view to attract foreign investment in hydro, infrastructure and tourism sectors. Public and Private sectors from Belarus may take the advantage of it by investing in Nepal. He also updated the current political development and the priorities of the present Government of Nepal.
